Welcome to my second half! That’s right, headed in a new direction of following my passion – creative, children, sharing, writing, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and quilting.
People start out their about me with “I’m a mom of 4, grow my own grocery store and provide uniforms for the entire United States Navy using paper piecing techniques.” Nope not me. I have two adult children whom I am so proud of and a great husband, just saying.
At 55 I had a stroke. If that wasn’t a wake up call to a second chance then I was punked. God just gave me the gift of finishing well. Are there after affects? Weird ones, like typing – sometimes when I am finished typing I look up and I can’t imagine I put that on the screen. Short term memory is a challenge in the short term. But the biggy is a partial loss of sight in my left eye. I’m a positive person. These are things that annoy me, but I still have what I need to do those things that I love.
I’ve rediscovered my passions – sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and writing. Plus I quit my job that was causing all my stress.
Thank God everyday you’re one of his kids.
What a beautiful surprise to find out you are “Miss Mary”! I was sent your article on Mary Kay and enjoyed all the other articles too. You have the gift of “pen” and obviously of life too. So happy to hear you are doing well.
FYI; St. Margaret Mary is hosting a St. Joseph’s Table this Sunday, 3/18/12 from 12n-3p in McDonnell Hall. It’s a free feast for all! Great community event. Great tradition!
Hugs,
Maribeth

Miss Mary, I’m glad you’re home following your passions now. You’ve got a great blog and I enjoy reading about your various interests… that meatball recipe looks like something I’ll have to try. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Mary. Though I became your Facebook friend this summer, I did not realize all that you have gone through since we last talked several years ago. You truly are an inspiration. You are such a good person who has always done so much for others. I am glad that you are following your passions and having less stress in your life! I may need to be doing more of that….
