Miss Mary

Back in the saddle.

A few weeks ago I asked my husband to bring my sewing room up to the dining room so I could “do something”.  I found I could sit for a bit and sew and at least accomplish something.

I started the Farmer’s Wife Quilt back in February or March and since the summer was spent recouperating from knee surgery, much creativity stopped.

I picked it back up and found that I could cut the pieces with my scissors while icing.  I then placed them in the little snack bags waiting to be sewn.

In the last week I’ve been able to sew five new ones.  One was very easy and the others took at least a little over an hour to sew.  Who said flying geese were easy – not so much.

The first one in the second row has to be my favorite.  There’s 23 seams in that little beast.  With fall coming around the corner, I hope, I really like the leaf.  That took all of 20 minutes to complete.  One gets pretty stiff sitting at the sewing machine so you have to get up and move around a bit.  It’s good to get back to what you enjoy.
